Local and National Leaders to Join LSC’s Los Angeles Forum on Increasing Access to Justice

LOS ANGELES– Local and national leaders will join the ˶ (LSC) in Los Angeles on Monday, October 16 for a forum on increasing access to justice, with a focus on civil legal issues related to the region’s rising housing insecurity.
Speakers at the forum include Conway Collis, President and CEO, Mayor’s Fund for Los Angeles; Antonia Hernández, outgoing President and CEO, California Community Foundation; Isela Gracian, Senior Deputy, Homelessness & Housing, Office of the L.A. County Supervisor, and John Levi, LSC Board Chairman and Senior Counsel at Sidley Austin LLP.
The event will feature a panel discussion on housing insecurity and effective partnerships for protecting tenant rights moderated by LSC President Ronald Flagg. The panelists include staff attorneys from Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles, Community Legal Aid SoCal, and the Liberty Hill Foundation.
Additionally, a discussion on expanding access to civil legal services, hosted by Sidley Austin LLP Partner Dan Clivner, will feature Mónica Ramírez Almadani, CEO and President of Public Counsel, and Tanya Acker, host of “The Tanya Acker Show” and Public Counsel Board Member.
The forum is being held at the Omni Los Angeles Hotel at 2:30 p.m. PT. It will also be livestreamed on LSC's Facebook page.
After the forum, LSC will hold a Pro Bono Service Awards Reception to recognize the contributions of local lawyers and community partners to the three LSC-funded legal aid organizations in the area. Congresswoman Nanette Diaz Barragán and Loyola Law School Interim Dean Brietta Clark will speak at the awards reception.

· Gerald Williams, formerly with the LA County Office of the Alternate Public Defender
The reception, which is sponsored by O’Melveny, will be held at Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles’s Ron Olson Justice Center.
