Legal Aid鈥檚 Importance to American Business: Four Corporate General Counsels Brief Congress

WASHINGTON 鈥 Four general counsels from leading American companies will gather April 20 on Capitol Hill for a congressional briefing on the importance of a fair and accessible justice system to the business community.

The panel, 鈥淲hy Is Legal Aid Important to American Business?,鈥 will include Kate Adams, Senior Vice President and General Counsel, Honeywell International; The Honorable Sven Holmes, Vice Chairman and Chief Legal Officer, KPMG; Robert Millen, Chief Legal Officers and General Counsel, Pizza Hut; and Laura Stein, Executive Vice President and General Counsel, The Clorox Company.

成人抖阴 (LSC) President James J. Sandman will moderate the discussion and LSC Chairman John G. Levi will provide opening remarks.

A viable justice system requires equal access to justice for all. Consumers, employees, and employers alike must be able to access their legal rights and rely on the enforceability of contracts and the fair resolution of disputes. During the briefing, speakers will explain how the business community depends on employees and consumers perceiving our nation鈥檚 laws as legitimate and fair. They will also discuss corporate involvement in civil legal aid in their communities.

This event is held in cooperation with Representatives Susan Brooks (R-IN) and Joe Kennedy III (D-MA), co-chairs of the newly formed House Access to Civil Legal Services Caucus.

The congressional briefing will take place at 1310 Longworth House Office Building on April 20, 12鈥1:00 p.m. Members of the press are invited to attend.
