Job Title: Deputy Director of Litigation

Reports To: Executive Director

Supervises: Practice Group Directors, Attorneys, and Paralegals

Compensation Range: $148,000.00 - $175,000.00 DOE

 

ICLS is immediately seeking a Deputy Director of Litigation to manage and support litigation.  The Deputy Director of Litigation will lead an exceptional team of legal advocates in providing legal assistance to qualified low-income persons in civil litigation in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. The Deputy Director will provide guidance and support to the Practice Group Directors and their teams. The Director of Litigation will regularly meet and consult with the Director of Operations, Director of Community Engagement and the Chief Financial Officer to ensure the litigation teams are meeting all compliance requirements and receiving the support from ICLS to meet the demands of their programs. The Director will work with the Practice Group Directors to identify systemic and impact litigation in both counties and that ICLS clients are receiving holistic legal services to resolve their economic, housing and protection needs.  As an integral part of the senior executive team, this position will support and guide staff to ensure that ICLS operates in an efficient and productive manner. This position will develop new policies and procedures to ensure ICLS functions in conformity with all the State, Federal, Grantor requirements and legislative mandates. In addition, this position will be critical in ensuring ICLS implements the goals and priorities of the 5-year strategic plan.  This position, along with the related Deputy Director positions may be appointed on a temporary basis to cover Executive Director absences.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

General Duties

  • Supervise and support Practice Group Directors;
  • Oversee grant deliverables and litigation goals related to major Federal and State funding sources, including 成人抖阴 (LSC), Equal Access to Justice and IOLTA;
  • Work collaboratively with staff, board, and community partners to establish litigation priorities;
  • Establish metrics to evaluate and support extended services;
  • Collaborate with executive management to ensure ICLS works as a team;
  • Assist in the formulation and implementation of agency policy;
  • Work with community partners to meet grant and program objectives; 
  • Lead and participate in the implementation of ICLS鈥檚 strategic plan as it relates to litigation goals
  • Provide counsel and advice to the Executive Director regarding the litigation teams.

 

Board of Directors

  • Attend, present and advise the Board of Directors on the status of the ICLS鈥檚 litigation program and its accomplishments and growth.

 

Desired Experience, Qualifications and Abilities

  • Licensed to practice law in the State of California;
  • At least 5 years of experience in legal services or advocacy on behalf of low-income persons; or with similar experience and management experience;
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills;
  • Superior interpersonal skills to establish and maintain working relationships;
  • Ability to facilitate collaboration as well as ability to build and sustain productive relationships with diverse individuals, groups and organizations; 
  • Ability to empower and encourage others to perform their jobs effectively;
  • Ability to work with frequent deadlines;
  • Experience working at a non-profit preferred;
  • Requires a willingness to work beyond the standard work week, including evening or weekend meetings or events, as needed;
  • Ability to travel as needed is required.
