Timothy Moran
LSC Champion of Justice

Nominated by Danielle Harris

"Tim has substantially contributed to the pro bono work at Community Legal Services to address unmet legal needs through his unwavering commitment to serving others. Since 2009, he has contributed over 1500 hours of pro bono work to serve low-income and vulnerable populations in Central Florida. Tim truly understands the meaning in the Oath of Admission to the Florida Bar to 鈥渘ever reject鈥he cause of the defenseless or oppressed鈥 and models this through his continued growing commitment to serving others through pro bono. His commitment starts with serving clients through direct legal services in bankruptcy, probate and estate planning matters - taking on cases for brief legal advice and serving at legal clinics to full representation. Tim鈥檚 volunteer work does not stop there. He also takes the time to mentor law students, assist through the Claud B. Nelson Peer Academy, develop trainings and training materials, co-counsel cases, recruit new pro bono attorneys, answer questions when one arises. He never says no to a request to help one more person. Through the Claud B. Nelson Peer Academy, Tim played a vital role in developing the curriculum, training the attendees, mentoring attorneys, bringing in additional volunteers from other professions and the overall success of the pilot program. He currently has a solo practice which he continues to own and operate all while giving back to others through pro bono.

Through his dedication to being a pillar in the legal profession and providing access to justice for those in the community he serves, his work has not gone unnoticed. Tim has been honored by the Florida Supreme Court with the highest honor when he was awarded the Tobias Simon Award in January of 2023. Tim also received the Arthur von Briesen Award, the highest honor presented by the National Legal Aid and Defenders Association in 2022. These awards were preempted by The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division Pro Bono Service Award, the Florida Bar President鈥檚 Pro Bono Service Award for the 18th Circuit, and a recognition in 2017 by the Ninth Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee for his pro bono contributions, and several other awards throughout his career as an attorney for his contributions to pro bono work. Tim does not slow down in his dedication to serving others and spreading the word about the need to help others through pro bono legal serves."
